Martín Dieste Places is a PhD student from NanoGap, a company specializing in advanced nanomaterials and catalytic technologies, is currently undertaking a three-month research visit at our institution. He is a chemist with a strong interest in nanotechnology and its broad applicability across industrial sectors, and he is currently pursuing his PhD focused on CO2 valorization through nanomaterial-based catalysis. Martín studied at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where he completed his master’s degree in chemical research and industrial chemistry in 2023.
Since 2023, he has been working as a doctoral researcher at NanoGap in Santiago de Compostela, where his research focuses on catalytic processes for CO2 valorization and green hydrogen production. His work involves the application of advanced metal-based nanomaterials, particularly metal–metal cluster systems, which have shown high activity in CO2 transformation reactions of industrial relevance.
During this stay, Martín is working on the oxidative dehydrogenation reaction, focusing on the catalytic activity of cluster-based catalysts. The visit is a strong step in the knowledge exchange between academia and industry and strengthens ongoing collaborative efforts in catalytic materials development.
